Well it looks like Hollywood has finally caught on to what we here at RedEyeRogue have known all along; Robots Are Cool!
Over the past few years, zombies, and most recently, vampires, have been the darlings of the pop-culture zeitgeist (whoa boy- we’re using big-boy words like “zeitgeist”). From 28 Days Later up through Shaun of The Dead and Fido zombies have been, menace, heroes and even butlers, while vampires have been- well – just about everything from wisecracking cops to tween girl (and MILF) wet dreams.
Well move over shambling corpses and angsty blood suckers ‘cuz there’s a new cool kid in town;
A few years ago Daniel H. Wilson’s How To Survive a Robot Uprising: Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebelliontook the literary world by storm (right around the same time that a certain revival of a certain 70’s sci-fi television show about genocidal robots run amok hit the scene). It looks like Wilson’s book is finally getting the Hollywood treatment as Jack Black and Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink have picked up the film rights.
But wait! There’s more: Wilson’s newest book (which hasn’t even been released yet) – “Robopocolypse” – has been optioned by Steven Spielberg and is currently deep into post production with a script by Drew Goddard , the writer of Cloverfield and The Cabin in the Woods.
Go Team Robot, Go!
By your command…
