In yet another example of how small businesses and indie film making ingenuity are threatening the wellbeing and survival of corporate blockbuster fare, the film “Sleepwalk with Me” drew the ire of Avengers director Joss Whedon, who went online to plead with filmgoers to boycott the small film “opening August 24th in over eighty theaters” in favor of big budget hollywood movies.
In the one minute video rant, Whedon – the creator of such shows as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Firefly – asserts that the film “being independent after all… could make fun of the pope. We don’t know. We just don’t know. We should just have a preemptive boycott of this movie that’s creeping up on my movie.”
Remember troops, the film to boycott is Sleepwalk With Me, by Mike Birbiglia opening August 24th.
