If we are going to take Halo off the console and bring it to the big screen there are two things that need to be done in order to insure it doesn’t end up in the graveyard with all the other games made into movies.

1) Take is seriously. The games take themselves seriously and the movies should do the same.

2) Most of us that would see the movie already know the story behind the Halo universe. So don’t try and remake the games or books into a movie. The story should be something fresh that still locks into the overarching plot of the Halo Universe.

I already have an idea of what the first movie would be about. Master Chief is not even the main protagonist. Who is? The Arbitrer! But not the one that we are familiar with from the games. The first movie in the trilogy takes place before the initial attack on Harvest. As the Covenant are gearing up for their first assault on a human world they have identified an Arbitrer to lead the campaign. However in the days leading up to the attack he slowly discovers the lies of the prophets. The movie would open with him leading an attack on the prophets only to be betrayed and killed. The rest of the movie would be showing what happened up to that point. Kind of like an episode of BSG where they start with a scene and then show you how they got there throughout the rest of the episode.

Once the Arbitrer is dead the prophets begin the assault on Harvest. We know what happens from there.

I don’t know how people would react to a movie that was mostly concentrated on The Covenant but I think it would be a great first movie to a trilogy.
